Austin Gardens Park – HDR, ISO 1000, 19mm, f/6.3, 1/800 sec, Canon 5DM3, Handheld

Austin Gardens Park

Taken in Oak Park, IL during the October 2014. This HDR image was built using Photomatix Pro, Macphun Intensity CK, Focus CK, Photoshop, and Lightroom. The final image comes pretty close to what I actually saw when I took the image. Aside from the HDR the biggest edit on this image was correcting so the image was rectilineal. I find that the Perspective crop tool in Photoshop is particularly effective for this kind of edit. It works way better than the tool included in Lightroom. Check below to see the original image before I did any editing.

Fall in the midwest sure is a lot more colourful than on the west coast. Here a few trees will change colour but most are evergreens. So things get wet, rainy, and dull looking in the fall.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
