Boatman Resting

Boatman Resting. Just a short walk down the river from where I was staying in Battambang I came across this guy having a nap. I’m not sure what the boat gets used for. There are many bridges that cross the river, and I can’t imagine there are too many fish living in the brown murky water.

This image was shot on my Fujifilm X100T. I’m trying to work more with this camera lately. Considering i may switch entirely to Fuji and get rid of my Sony I figure I better have a good idea how things will change. One of the big things Fuji promotes is its film simulation Jpeg modes. Which are basically just fancy jpeg algorithms that try to simulate the look of some of Fuji’s old classic films. Photographer rave about how they no longer need to shoot in RAW because the jpegs are just that good.

I’m skeptical so I’m doing a bunch of testing of these film simulations. While they may be cool they would not be the reason I switch. I am more interested in a lighter weight, and more comfortable camera to use. As well as having lighter lenses for the smaller sensor on the Fuji.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at and writing about my experiences at
