Boyz in the Hood

These Boyz in the Hood were just hanging out down by the beach a couple nights ago. When they saw me they ran over and asked to have their photo taken. They were all very impressed with the results.

To do the black and white conversion for this image I used Nic Silver Efex Pro. Last year Google bought the Nic company for some piece of tech they owned, and last week they put the entire Nic software suite for free download. Previously it was a $150 package. I really have not had much of a chance to use it, and so far I still prefer the Macphun software I have been using for the last 5 months or so. However I am willing to give it a whirl and see what kind of images it will produce.

I’m currently posting this while sitting in the Chennai International Airport. I am trying to use up all the data I already paid for on one of the local SIM cards. My flight to Bangkok  has already been delayed for an hour, and they are just saying its because of “operational problems” so honestly I am fully prepared to be sitting here all night. And really thats ok, because my original flight had me arriving at 3am, with no where to go until my hostel would allow checking in at 2pm. Strange but for once I am kind of hoping my flight is delayed by about 5 hours. Maybe I’ll get my wish.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
