Burning Man Space Whale

Burning Man Space Whale

One of my favorite art installations at Burning Man this year was The Space Whale. It was centrally located right next to Center Camp looking out over the causeway to the Man. It changed colours and played music as well. I passed by it several times each day and every time it looked and sounded different.

This shot was taken on exodus day when everyone was breaking their camps down and leaving. After living in Black Rock City for a week it was kind of traumatic to see the whole city disappear one camp at a time. I’m looking forward next year when I can do the whole thing over again!

The image was shot with my brand new Olympus TG-4 point and shoot. I’m loving this waterproof (and dustproof) camera. Perfect for taking images in the desert where the dust gets everywhere and kills any normal camera. I also shot many photos with my old Canon 5DM3 and will be posting these images coming up in the next few days.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
