Central Airport Mall

Central Airport Mall. I went on a little adventure to one of the many malls here in Chiang Mai. For the last few months my tripod has been missing one of its little rubber feet. I know the possibility of replacing it with an original item is miniscule. I decided to find a hardware store and improvise.

Google Maps told me that the hardware store was connected to the mall. Google Maps was incorrect. However I did find a bizarre combination of Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, and Office Depot, with a little Canadian tire mixed in for good measure. I was able to find some a small package of carriage bolts along with nuts and washers that would do the trick. And only 20 Baht! ($0.58 USD).

But I digress. While wandering around inside the enormous mall looking for the non-existent hardware store I had to admire the atrium areas. I ended up making two images off the photos I took and this is one of them. The other was in portrait mode and will likely show up in a vlog I plan to post shortly.

To shoot this image I had to lay on the floor. I was shooting with the lens set at 15mm so it was pretty wide. I waited for a couple minutes for a random dude to get out of the field of view. When I finally stood up people were staring at me.

The image is processed in Aurora HDR Pro. Major alignment and cropping modifications were done with Photoshop. Noise removal was done with Noiseless CK. Colour tweaking and sharpening done in Lightroom.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
