Chicago Southside Beach

Chicago Southside Beach

This is my first post in two weeks. I know this is a daily photo blog but I decided to slow down a bit and relax for a while. Being back in the US feels like a vacation from traveling. On top of that I was sick for about a week as well. I will be starting to post again, though I will not promise that it will be a daily basis until I get back into the traveling mode again. So today I have this image that I call Chicago Southside Beach.

Last night I went down to the beach near Hyde Park in Chicago and took a burst of photos to use in the creation of this image. It’s been fun to be trying new techniques in Photoshop without feeling the need to constantly be posting images. Noiseless CK was also used to reduce some of the noise in the sky area.

The image is created using a high ISO setting and a burst of 9 photos were taken. Shooting with a high ISO at night creates a lot of noise in the image. I have learned a new technique that compares the median pixel colour and removes the majority of the noise. After that it was a matter of using my typical toolbox of tricks to make the image pop a bit more.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
