Four Dudes Smoking

Went on a little photo walk with Alison last September. I remember thinking at the end of the day that I really did not get anything I liked. It turns out I got this shot and a few more that I actually liked. One of them was of the Trump building, and on principle I just will never show it to anyone.

This shot was pretty spontaneous. Alison asked me if it was ok to ask these guys for a photo. I told her that of course its ok to ask. So she took a few shots of them. Then she went over and talked to them for a bit. While I was waiting I took a couple shots of my own. I really did not think it would turn out as I didn’t spend any time composing, I just pulled up the camera and shot.

I have always wanted to do more street photography. It really does put me into an uncomfortable zone though. Its something I hope to be working on in the next couple months. I want to push myself to talk to more random people. I have always shied away from doing this. I was actually pretty happy when Alison went up and asked to take the picture of these guys, because I knew that I would not.

In other news I started a short story writing class today. I was also pretty freaked out about that because once again It puts me in a super uncomfortable place. But things weren’t too bad after all. I ended up writing a very short story and even read it out loud to the class. Fiction Writing Achievement unlocked! 25 Bonus Points! Tomorrow I start another writing class, then on monday I start a photography class. Just when I start to get a bit of free time, I am filling it up with work like things. Hopefully these classes will help me with my blogging when I am traveling.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
