Franz Josef Bridge

The Franz Josef Bridge and river just outside of Franz Josef are a fantastic place to hang out in the night and go some shooting. At first I thought that the bridge would detract from the stars that I was trying to capture. After a few test shots I could see that the yellow of the lights would compliment the blue in the sky very nicely. Then when I saw a car was about to drive across the bridge I decided to take advantage of the effect the headlights would give during a long exposure. I could not predict the exact result, but I thought it was a good experiment anyway.

Image edited in Intensify CK, and Lightroom. I’m always very surprised with the dramatic effects that long exposure photography can produce. It’s always a rewarding experience to get out in the night and just experiment. The great thing with digital is that this experimentation costs nothing except maybe some lost sleep.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
