Laos Riverboats

This is a section of the river near Don Det in Laos. To get to the island of Don Det a riverboat is required. As I walked up to my riverboat I looked to the right and shot this. The surrounding streets were all business and looked primarily concerned with tourism. Along the waterfront the feel changed to one of strict business of the riverboat world.

It was shot on the Sony using the 35mm f/2.8. Even though I am considering replacing the Sony I am constantly surprised with how I like the images when using the 35mm prime. I guess i’ll just have to see how things work out over the next month.

I wanted emphasize the timeless nature of the image so I decided to use Tonality CK for the black and white conversion and border. I know those borders are cliche, but they do remind me of how I would do my prints on paper when I printed in the darkroom.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
