Old Black Friars Pub

Old Black Friars Pub

Tonight I arrived in Aberdeen and went for a walk down to the Old Black Friars Pub to have a dram of whiskey and celebrate the victory of the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series. The whiskey was great, the beer was great. The lasagna was not so good…

The weather is overcast and rainy all day long. I decide to take the camera along and see what I could come up with anyway. Bad weather often makes good photos. Shooting my way down Union St., I found a few good buildings that were lit nicely with artificial and ambient evening light. I get to this pub and not only is it a good looking pub, but there are no annoying street signs or traffic lights blocking the view. Granted I was only about 10 feet from the entrance when I shot this. Wide angle lenses come in so useful in these circumstances.

This is NOT an HDR image, believe it or not. I created this out of one single image using Lightroom, and Photoshop, then a bit more lightroom for final touchups. Noise was reduced using Macphun’s Noiseless CK.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
