Sunset over Edinburgh Castle

Sunset over Edinburgh Castle

Today started a little slow. I woke up with the sniffles and a super nasty headache. I really don’t ever get headaches so i’m assuming I may be sick. Or perhaps it’s a reaction to something in my hostel room. My plan was to wake up super early so I could photograph the sunrise, but instead I was able to get the sunset over Edinburgh Castle.

This is shot on one of my new lenses. My last stopover in Toronto I made a quick trip to a camera store and purchased an 18-135mm lens. For those of you following you will know I typically shoot with a 10-24 so this new lens feels like a super zoom to me. And the new lens allowed me to get this shot from approximately a half mile away. I’m not yet convinced I want to keep traveling with this lens, but it does have some advantages.

The image was processed using only Adobe Lightroom. This is a bit of a departure from my typical editing workflow where I will use several applications and plugins. However this image turned out exactly how I envisioned it when I was making the shot.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
