Tham Phu Kham Cave

Tham Phu Kham Cave. It was quite the hike to get to the entrance of this cave. The area where the light comes through is not the entrance. This is located just above the area known as the Blue Lagoon just outside of Vang Vieng, Laos. I would not have called it the Blue Lagoon. More like the muddy large irrigation ditch. Anyway, the locals love it here and so do the tourists. I held off jumping into the ice cold pool of parasites and bacteria and opted to climb to the cave instead.

So glad I did. The place is just amazing on the inside. The downer is that that while it is cool inside there is no breeze, so it is amazingly humid. The sweat from the hike up keeps getting worse the longs I stayed in the cave.

This is an HDR image created using Aurora HDR Pro. I was going to try and figure out how to add some kind of lighting effects using Photoshop, but I need to change it to 8 bit image, and even after I did that I was unable to make things work. So basically this is a mostly finished image. But its late, and I have had two beers, and two dinners, one of which was a crepe with honey and bacon.

Time to head off to bed and get ready for the bus ride to Vientiane tomorrow. I have people to meet up with!

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
