The Great Theater of Havana

The Great Theater of Havana

This image represents a bit of irony. In the background is The Great Theater of Havana. In the foreground is one of the thousands of classic cars driving around. This is the new Theater of Havana. These brightly painted classic cars cater to nostalgic tourists who want to have a ride. They are such a part of Havana and yet look so out of place surrounded by the vast amount of deteriorating buildings.

I shot this image as the sun was setting. I believe i had just finished a bottle of Club Havana rum and was feeling a bit energetic so I went for a walk. On nights like this I wonder why I don’t spend every evening walking around with my camera. Sometimes its just too easy to stay in and edit instead of getting out and shooting more. Just like tonight. I’m sitting in Edinburgh editing instead of shooting during the golden hour.

Edited primarily in Adobe Lightroom, with a bit of tweaking in Photoshop and noise removal done with Macphun Noiseless CK.

So probably no one cares, but I just won a free year of Adobe Creative Cloud Photography. That means for the next year I will not be paying for my Lightroom or Photoshop. Woohoo for me!! Winning required no skill at all. I was just randomly selected after I entered. So I guess I can no longer say that I never win anything. This will save me $120 USD over the next year.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
