The Lightness of Shopping

To anyone who is one of my facebook friends this will be a photo you probably have already seen. I used for the banner in either my Facebook page or profile, I can’t remember which one it was. It was shot in the Mall of America by pressing the lens flat up against the display window of a store. Photomatix Pro was used to combine the three images, then Lightroom was used to adjust the tones to get the feel I was trying to get.

Although this was taken in a mall I still consider this to be street photography. The reason is that I was walking around taking images inside the mall just as I would be if I was on the street. No there are no discernable people in the image, but it is a scene I saw while walking around and just took the image. There is also no social commentary going on in this image. I just really liked the way it looked and sometimes I just want to post a pretty picture.

Another reason I am posting this one is I pretty overwhelmed with everything going on right now. The writing classes I am taking are kicking my ass with workload. Add to that trying to shoot a bit every day on my street photography, continuing to get the condo empty, and being kicked out every now and then for a showing, and I am having a lot of trouble keeping things scheduled.

So The images will keep on getting posted, but I may be pulling from some more images from previous years, and different subject matter. Except for dancers. Unless it’s a crazy amazing photo I will not be posting dance photos here. Or to clarify, partner dance from any of the parties or events I have shot. I still reserve the right to post other dance images such as ballet…

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
