The Meadows at Dusk

The Meadows at Dusk

One of the meadows near the beach that I am staying at in Timmendorfer-Strand in Germany. I didn’t have my tripod with me but I decided to take the shot anyway because of the mist that was laying on the fields. I find it’s always better to take the shot immediately when the thought is there. Coming back another day will never give the same conditions.

This photo needed a lot of editing The high ISO used to get this shot resulted in a lot of noise. To remove the noise I took 12 shots using a burst mode, then used photoshop to average the noise out between all the images. I then combined the resulting image with another version I had created using some HDR software. The result was a lot of time spent working on the image, but it’s one that i’m pretty happy with.

I killed a lens. It sucked. Better news is that Visa Purchase Protection plan covers this damage and I will be getting a new one soon. I had a good day of misery before a friend pointed out that I should try the Insurance option.

Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at and writing about my experiences at
