Beach Dog – ISO 250, 35mm, f/8, 1/640th sec, Sony A7RII, Handheld
It has been pretty much raining here in Victoria for about two weeks straight now. Because of this I have not been outside shooting. However today was a nice beautiful sunny day at 8 dec C (46 F). Roland messaged me and asked if I wanted to go for a walk. Now I had planned to spend the day posting things for sale in preparation of emptying out my mom’s condo, but the sunshine was sunshining so I put that on hold and ventured outside.
Anyone paying attention will notice that this is the first image I am posting using my new camera. Yup I have my Canon 5DM3 for sale and I am now using a Sony A7RII. Today was the first day I really got to use the camera. I was suffering a bit from post buyers remorse since it arrived a week ago. However after using it today I am totally getting into it. There is still a lot I need to learn about it but I am really liking the dynamic range. The images look so nice straight out of the camera.
For lenses at this point I have the 10-18 Sony and my old Leica 35mm f/2.0 Sumicron used with a Metabones adapter. My Minolta adapter should be arriving tomorrow which will let me use a bunch of my old Minolta glass. Pretty excited to try the Rokinon 50mm f/1.4.
Well for this image only Lightroom was used to make it pop a bit more. I’m still waiting for a copy of Macphun Aurora to be released. I can’t wait to start playing with that.
Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
