Osaka Castle Cat
I am going way back to 2010 for today’s photo. One of my first solo travel experiences. I spend two weeks in Japan checking out the sights, meeting new people, and hanging out with old friends. In Osaka I went to the Osaka Castle. Its made entirely of wood and has burned downa few times. I think this is the third or fourth version. Anyway there was a herd of cats hanging around. Mostly they were very shy, but this guy let me come close enough to get this image.
The shot was taken using my old original Canon 5D. Man that was a nice camera… The creamy softness of this camera is what convinced me to continue shooting photos at a time in my life where I was very disappointed with digital images in general. I have edited this image using Intensify CK, and Lightroom. Not much was done to the image. A little bit of sharpening in the highlights and midtones, Some structure was added to define the hair a little, then a vignette was added. The yellows and blues were boosted slightly, and the greens were desaturated a wee bit using lightroom.
Growing up one of my biggest dreams was to explore the world. Honestly I never thought this would become reality. But at the end of 2014 I quit my job as a project manager to do just that. I sold most everything I own, packed up the remaining boxes in storage, and set out to see the world. My goals while traveling are to meet people everywhere I go, work on becoming a better photographer, and attempt to stay where the weather is not freezing. Along the way I am posting photos at Pixelbip.com and writing about my experiences at EarthToKeir.com
